Fremd H.S. Music Department Wins 2nd Grammy in 3 Years!

  KAREN

Karen at Fort in San Juan

Karen is getting used to the “empty nest” syndrome, with Niki now married and Sean off to college, it’s been pretty quiet around the house.  She likes to spend time with Niki on the weekends, taking in a movie or shopping, and is happy when Sean decides he “misses his mommy” enough to come home (that, or he wants MONEY).  Work continues to keep her busy, and was recently transitioned into a new position as “Fabrication Engineer”.  Basically, she is now behind the scenes, working with (3) sales people, providing her experience, and expertise on “engineering” and estimating projects for their clients.  It’s been a big change for her, as she no longer has the contact with her clients that she used to.  Also means she doesn’t have the headaches in dealing with clients too!  In her spare time, she loves her daily workouts, getting together with friends, and traveling!

SEAN

Sean and Lauren 10-17-08

Hey it’s Sean and I’m in my third year at Western Illinois University. I’m majoring in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration with a minor in Sociology.  I have about one year left before I am able to do my internship, which is the next step in becoming a police officer. I’m dating a brilliant young woman named Lauren who also attends WIU. She’s majoring in News Performance and hopes to one day become a television producer. We have been together for over a year and continue looking forward to seeing each other after a good-bye kiss.  During my free time at school I enjoy hanging out with Lauren, my suitemates, lifting weights, and playing video games.  When I’m back at home, I love riding my Harley, being with friends, and throwing the Frisbee for Maggie!  I also enjoy keeping my parents company who seem to be lonely while I’m away.

"I Hate It When I Have To Get Groomed"

Maggie likes to eat, play, bark, sleep, and get in the way.  She can also sit, lay, roll over, beg pretty, dance, shake hands, high 5, and play dead with verbal or hand commands!  She's also great at catching Frizbee's, fetching balls, etc.

DAVID

David Installs Mailbox - Summer, 2008

Nothing has really changed for me.  I still work at Fremd High School doing some teaching and some administrative stuff.  I enjoy my work and am lucky to have some great teachers/musicians as colleagues.  I am also getting back into writing music scores for marching bands.  In just the past few years I have written for the Fremd,  University of Iowa ("Hawkeyes"), McKendree College, and Northern Illinois University marching bands.   My goal is to have enough clients to keep me busy in retirement - which is not far off!  Last, I love riding/driving my "mid-life crisis toys" (2005 Harley Sportster and 2004 Corvette!)

NIKI

Niki and Bob 8-8-08

My name is Niki Lan...oops...let's try that again.  My name is Niki Zabawski.  Bob and I have been married now for almost 3 months, and life has never been better!  Now that the wedding is over, things have settled back down to near normalcy.  I'm still teaching at Nerge School in Roselle, only this year I'm teaching 3rd grade.  I love my new students and my new team.  Now that Bob's part of the family, I feel it necessary to fill you in on his daily life.  Bob is a Home Theater Installer for Best Buy.  He gets to play with TVs, surround sound, and video games all day long.  Then he has the honor of coming home to the most wonderful person in the world...(as Bob is rolling his eyes).  We keep ourselves busy working at our respective jobs and then coming home and working on the house.  We enjoy watching movies, for those of you who have never had the pleasure of viewing our extensive DVD collection.  We love spending time with each other and our 3 pets:  Stormy the old man, Klyde the tail-less wonder, and Mike the dog.  That's all I have to say about that.  (You know what movie that's from Dad?)

Sean bought one first, with the help of Mom and Dad.  Then Dad decided he had to have one also.  They are a blast to ride!!
