Fremd H.S. Music Department Wins 2nd Grammy in 3 Years!

Karen at Fort in San Juan

4/24/10 – Karen has been gainfully UN-employed since November 2009, laid off from her job at Fabric Images.  She has been searching for work ever since.  Hopefully, the economy will take a turn for the better soon.  In the meantime, she has been spending time with Sean, who has been home for his internship.  She has also recently joined LA Fitness, as the second Curves location she has been too, has closed its doors.  She really enjoys the workouts and step classes!  She really enjoys the gatherings with her friends, to keep her sane, and hopes to do some more traveling soon.

Sean Testing Uncle Larry's Bike

Hey it’s Sean and I’m in my last semester at Western Illinois University. I’m majoring in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration with a minor in Sociology.  I have just completed my internship with the Streamwood Police Department and hope to become a cop real soon!  During my free time I enjoy lifting weights, working out with my friends, and playing video games.  I love riding my Harley and throwing the Frisbee for Maggie!

Maggie

Maggie likes to eat, play, bark, sleep, and get in the way.  She can also sit, lay, roll over, beg pretty, dance, shake hands, high 5, and play dead with verbal or hand commands!  She's also great at catching Frizbee's, fetching balls, etc.

I still work at Fremd High School doing some teaching and some administrative stuff.  I enjoy my work and am lucky to have some great teachers/musicians as colleagues.  I am also getting back into writing music scores for marching bands.  In just the past few years I have written for the Fremd,  University of Iowa ("Hawkeyes"), McKendree College, and Northern Illinois University marching bands.   My goal is to have enough clients to keep me busy in retirement - which will begin in June, 2013!  Last, I love riding/driving my "mid-life crisis toys" (2005 Harley Sportster and 2004 Corvette!)

Niki and Bob 8-8-08

My name is Niki Lan...oops...let's try that again.  My name is Niki Zabawski.  Bob and I have been married now for almost 3 months, and life has never been better!  Now that the wedding is over, things have settled back down to near normalcy.  I'm still teaching at Nerge School in Roselle, only this year I'm teaching 3rd grade.  I love my new students and my new team.  Now that Bob's part of the family, I feel it necessary to fill you in on his daily life.  Bob is a Home Theater Installer for Best Buy.  He gets to play with TVs, surround sound, and video games all day long.  Then he has the honor of coming home to the most wonderful person in the world...(as Bob is rolling his eyes).  We keep ourselves busy working at our respective jobs and then coming home and working on the house.  We enjoy watching movies, for those of you who have never had the pleasure of viewing our extensive DVD collection.  We love spending time with each other and our 3 pets:  Stormy the old man, Klyde the tail-less wonder, and Mike the dog.  That's all I have to say about that.  (You know what movie that's from Dad?)

David and Sean on their "Summer Toys"

Sean bought one first, with the help of Mom and Dad.  Then Dad decided he had to have one also.  They are a blast to ride!!
